Full Range Chromatic Scales

The ranges used for these scales are the suggested full chromatic ranges of middle school instruments, according to the Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA). Mallets are not included, since mallet players are expected to play the full range of the mallet instruments when playing a complete chromatic scale. When using the scales on this page, remember that the RANGE of the scale is the most important thing about them; the rhythms used are suggestions for you to use to most easily learn the scale in a pattern over that range. As you learn the pattern of pitches, you are free to alter the rhythm pattern to best suit you. Work for clarity of pitches, evenness of rhythm, and speed as you learn the scale. Good luck!
