GMEA District Honor Band Audition Information
Every year, the Georgia Music Educator’s Association sponsors a district honor band for the top musicians in our area. If any of our students are interested in auditioning for this group, information and the permission form are contained in the letter linked below.
The link below will take you to the GMEA website page that has the audition etudes, the major scales and the full range chromatic scale that must be played for the audition. For the DHB audition (held on January 16th, 2021), all wind students will need to play their major scales in order from memory, full range chromatic scale from memory, the first section of the All-State Etude and a short excerpt from the 2nd part of the Etude (both of these NOT from memory). Percussionists have different materials for the audition (see the letter linked above).
The cost to do the audition is $5.00; if a student is selected, other costs will be necessary (those have not been set as of this time).
The deadline to return completed permission forms and audition fees is Tuesday, November 17th. The form is also linked on the landing page of 7th and 8th grade Google Classrooms.
